Who was the FFA Advisor that influenced you the most?
Mr. Curt Bertleson
What FFA Chapter did you attend?
Flowing Wells in Tucson
What are you doing these days?
After taking agricultural education and FFA in high school, I continued my career in the nursery industry (where I earned my credits for my SAE) at an independent garden center. I worked myself up to management within the company and advanced my leadership skills. I took a chance at a better opportunity working for one of the largest wholesale growers in Arizona, Civano Nursery as a sales person.
Civano Nursery is a family owned and operated business that ships plant material to California, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Utah and all over Arizona. After three years, I was promoted to Sales Manager for the company. I am now an Arizona Certified Nursery Professional and I also earned a Smartscape Certificate. I've been happily married for almost six years with a three year old toddler.
What did you enjoy the most about the FFA?
My best memories are at the Washington Leadership Conference. It was there that I learned what I never knew; my ability to open myself up and break away from my shyness and become the outgoing young lady I am. I gained new friendships, strengthened old friendships and I left Washington, D.C. with a newfound outlook on myself and developed the skills that I apply today in my career.
